As long as people have slept in beds, they’ve used the space underneath for storage. While it’s a great way to make use of available space, it can be hard to access the items you stored there. And if you don’t keep things under your bed organized, the space can end up looking like an episode of “Hoarders.” Repurposing old dresser drawers is a great way to keep similar items together and attaching small casters on the bottom of those drawers makes it much easier to access them.

This project will require you to be a little crafty, but if you can use a screwdriver and a paintbrush you can do it. The idea is to use old drawers from a dresser or cabinet, decorate them with paint or contact paper, and attach casters or similar wheels on the bottom so its easy to roll them under your bed. If you don’t have any old cabinets to spare, you can visit thrift stores, garage sales, or online platforms like Facebook Marketplace. You’re looking for an inexpensive cabinet with drawers that are low enough to fit under your bed. Just make sure you measure before you buy.

Once you get those drawers it’s time to decorate them. You can paint them, stain them, or use contact paper. You might want to change the drawer pulls or add labels so you know what’s stored in each drawer. The last step is to attach small casters like these, which make it easy to push them under your bed and pull them back out. Then just fill them up, slide them under your bed, and enjoy all the extra storage space you just created.
